Johor (/dʒəˈhɔːr/) or Johore is a Malaysian state, located in the southern portion of Peninsular Malaysia. The state capital city of Johor is Johor Bahru. The state royal town is Muar, the old state capital is Johor Lama and the state administrative center is Kota Iskandar in Iskandar Puteri. The Johor State Anthem (Malay: Lagu Bangsa Johor), which was composed by Armenian bandmaster Mackertich Galistan Abdullah. It was adapted from the famous Malay tune Dondang Sayang and officially approved and adopted by Sultan Ibrahim in 1897.
