Тимеем зачитывался на каникулах в баварских Альпах подросток по имени Вернер Гейзенберг. Герман Вейль апеллирует к Тимею в книге о симметрии One may ask whether the aesthetic value of symmetry de- pends on its vital value: Did the artist dis- cover the symmetry with which nature ac- cording to some inherent law has endowed its creatures, and then copied and perfected what nature presented but in imperfect realizations; or has the aesthetic value of symmetry an independent source? I am in- clined to think with Plato that the mathe- matical idea is the common origin of both (…) На сегодняшнем занятии рабочего семинара мы начнем разбирать рассказ Тимея Сократу о сотворении мира.
