How deep do you actually need to know design history — Bauhaus, the Swiss style, the whole 20th century — to do the job today? Skipping the theory is a missed opportunity, and in this video I explain why: not the names and dates, but the sequence. What appeared, why it appeared, and what it was reacting against. The main example here is deconstructivism — a movement that, in a sense, killed itself. Modernism gave us rules, logic, function, unification: the international style, the Swiss grid, the typography. One door for everyone. Deconstructivism arose decades later as a conceptual answer to that — a claim that human experience is multifaceted and complex, and that unification erases individuality. So it broke the rules: type could be a texture, a photograph could be an architectural object, familiar forms were torn apart to build something new. Then came the trap. A concept, once it becomes a movement, has to be formalized into rules — and deconstructivism cannot be formalized without contradicting its own essence. It received frameworks and limits, and died out. What we call deconstructivism today is an echo: a game of style, not an organic reaction to decades of utilitarian design. That's the reason to study this properly. With that knowledge you can look at contemporary work and see the difference between someone who understands what they're doing and someone copying the skin. * * * https://linktr.ee/steblina Супер-подписчики имеют доступ к закрытым стримам https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCQvqG9mC-SeQuegEKpawAuw/join
