At just 23 years old, the Marquis de Lafayette found himself facing one of the most dangerous British commanders of the American Revolution: Lord Cornwallis. In the summer of 1781, Lafayette used speed, intelligence, terrain, and carefully timed pressure to keep Cornwallis's army moving toward a destination that would eventually become a trap. What began as a desperate campaign across Virginia would end at Yorktown, where the British army found itself surrounded by American and French forces on land and the French fleet at sea. But Lafayette did not accomplish this alone. Washington, Rochambeau, de Grasse, Anthony Wayne, James Armistead, and thousands of American and French soldiers all played crucial roles in the campaign. This is the story of how a 23-year-old French volunteer helped turn Cornwallis's movement through Virginia into one of the most consequential traps of the American Revolution. Watch until the end to see how the campaign unfolded, from Green Spring to Yorktown and the British surrender on October 19, 1781. 👍 Like the video if you enjoyed it 🔔 Subscribe to Магия Снов for more military history stories 💬 Comment: at what moment did Cornwallis's position at Yorktown become impossible to save? #MilitaryHistory #AmericanRevolution #Lafayette #Cornwallis #Yorktown #WarHistory #HistoryDocumentary #RevolutionaryWar #AmericanHistory #FrenchHistory #BritishHistory #HistoricalBattles #18thCentury #History #МагияСнов
