Official Music Video - Ride The Progression - Kelly Boesch | 4K

Growing up, I loved listening to jazz with my dad and his friends. I was always fascinated by the way they talked about the tracks, they had their own distinct "jazz speak," a whole language dedicated to the subtle, almost hidden shifts in the music. They’d casually call out when a drummer flipped the beat for a few bars, or dissect the unexpected choices a sax player made in a solo. To them, the music was a living, breathing conversation. They didn't just hear the songs; they saw them happening, treating the changes and grooves like musical paintings unfolding right in the room. "Ride The Progression" was born out of those memories. I wanted to capture that feeling of tension and release they always talked about. The lyrics borrow their vocabulary; talking in intervals, dropping in blue notes, and waiting for the bass to resolve, to show how life works in much the same way. We all stumble into wrong notes or get thrown off by a skipped heartbeat, but if you lean into the syncopation and just ride the progression, you usually end up exactly where you need to be. I hope you enjoy the track. The visuals were animated using Pika keyframes (pikaframes). I wanted something subtle with changes to just flow with the music. Ride The Progression [Verse 1 ] I slide through the changes like a hand on the keys Major seven tension begging for release Bass line walking slow with a pocket so deep Got the whole room floating, nobody sleeps I talk in intervals, fourths and fifths collide Blue notes in my bloodstream, moonlight in my stride Every wrong turn swings till it sounds just right Like a bent note hanging at the edge of night [Chorus] Ride that progression Let it pull me downstream Half of life is tension Half of life is release Notes falling together Like rain on a tin roof Every song is a question Every groove is the truth [Verse 2- sung in a melodic soft tune] Got rhythm in my body and a syncopated soul Every little stumble helps the melody unfold The drummer skips a heartbeat and everybody grins That's where the magic sneaks back in The sax plays a solo, takin us much higher While the piano comps behind it, adding fuel to the fire And the bass keeps talking like an old best friend Saying, "Nothing really ends, it resolves again" [Bridge] We stretch out the meter, we bend the time Walking on a tightrope, stepping out of line Every little worry that you dragged through the door Gets buried in the kick drum shaking the floor [Final Chorus ] Ride that progression Like a river through time Every chord is a doorway Every doorway's alive Notes falling together Like stars finding their place We're all little melodies Following the base #ai #aiart #music #jazz #keyframes Lyrics written by me, Kelly Boesch.
