They were sealed after a violent pressure surge forced contaminated water through parts of the structure that had been considered inactive for decades. What rose from below was thick, black, and chemically foul enough to destroy filtration membranes, corrode intake valves and force an emergency shutdown within hours. Since then, the old mechanical regulators have remained under constant strain. The massive wheel still turns somewhere in the lower works, forcing the pressure back into a system no one fully understands anymore. Every attempt to slow it has produced the same result: rising pressure, failing seals, and movement deeper inside the drowned structure. Most of the lower corridors are now classified as a dead zone. Camera feeds fail without warning. Telemetry contradicts itself. Pressure sensors continue to register activity in sectors with no power, no access, and no surviving personnel. The control room remains operational — a fragile shell of dying CRTs and obsolete machinery suspended above the sealed levels. At irregular intervals, one of the lower monitors comes back online. Most show flooded passageways and motionless black water. Some show structures shifting in sections that should be completely static. Others show shapes moving beneath the surface against the current. One camera recorded something standing in a corridor that has been completely submerged for eleven years. The feed lasted four seconds. No recovery team has entered the lower sections since the last containment failure. The final team reached the second containment sector before all communication stopped. Now the pressure is rising again. The wheel is turning faster. And something below has started pushing back.
