Restoration of Rusted Bundle - Thought It Was Trash Until! Hi, today I’m presenting an interesting and unique restoration of a garage find. As usual, this item was about to be thrown away, but someone remembered me and gave it to me, saying it was just some dirty, wrapped-up device. For me, this is always interesting. The item had been sitting in a garage for quite a long time, and of course I agreed and accepted this gift. First of all, I disassembled it into parts, предварительно removing the dirty fabric and paper. It seems this paper is from the mid-20th century, because I date the item itself to the early 20th century. After removing all the dirt, I started cleaning it with a soft brush. Then I removed the base and, again using natural methods, placed all the brass parts into a mixture of flour, salt, cleaning agents, and kefir. I also removed the handle, but at first I made a mistake, thinking it wasn’t threaded, but this didn’t cause any problems later. I placed the iron part in kerosene, and only after two days did I begin cleaning it. The brass detail and all components I cleaned using a soft wire brush with cleaning powder, while the iron part I cleaned with a harder brush. After cleaning, I moved on to restoring the broken part inside the burner itself. It was not possible to remove it, so I had to saw it out and then extract it. After that, I used a piece of brass tube, cut threads into it, and replaced the missing original part. Then I restored the broken handle of another component: also made from brass, I cut it out using a jigsaw, then finished it with a file and soldered it using silver. Finally, after assembling everything, I used clean modern natural cotton wool and cotton pads as filler for the burner, splitting them into two parts. I filled it with 95% pure alcohol and, of course, did a test. The burner works perfectly. However, to heat a kettle, it takes more time than gas.
